Our Vision of Athletics

Athletics at The American International School of Kuwait (AIS) are an integral part of a student"s daily life as well as an important part of the total educational curriculum. At AIS the athletic philosophy is an outgrowth of the schools mission and beliefs incorporating and placing value in the many attributes that make up the Profile of the Graduates. AIS believes individuals are able to achieve personal excellence and balance in all aspects of their lives and that intellectual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual development are all important facets of our educational program.

Through athletics we strive to develop individuals and teams that are principled acting with a strong sense of fairness and respect. With support from the professional coaching staff at AIS athletes work towards finding balance through managing their time in order to maintain healthy and productive lives. AIS athletes are encouraged to be reflective, understanding their strengths and limitations in order to set goals leading to personal development. At AIS we work towards competitive excellence which includes commitment to personal development, teamwork, and most importantly sportsmanship.

We Compete Locally

Locally, AIS participates in the Kuwait Schools Activities Association (KSAA) which includes: The American School of Kuwait (ASK), Bayan Bilingual School (BBS), The American Academy for Girls (AAG), The American Creative Academy (ACA), Universal American School (UAS), and Dasman Model School of Kuwait (DMS). The KSAA membership has set goals that encourage socialization, cooperation, fair play, participation, self-control and self-discipline. The interscholastic athletic competition is made up of volleyball, soccer, basketball, track and field, and badminton. Boys and girls KSAA teams compete at the varsity, junior varsity (JV) and under 14 (U14) level.

We are Internationally Recognized

Internationally AIS is excited to announce our role as one of the founding members of the Near East Schools Activities Conference (NESAC). This conference is in its inaugural year and has been formed as an extension of our former ISAC league. Along with AIS, the participating members in the conference are: American Community School Amman (ACS), American International School Riyadh (AIS-R), The American School of Kuwait (ASK), Qatar Academy (QA), and GEMS World Academy Dubai (GWA). We are very excited to be part of this new conference and work alongside like-minded schools that share in our philosophy of education and competitive excellence.

Each one of these schools boasts excellent sporting venues ensuring the level of competition is complimented by safe modern facilities. NESAC teams compete within these facilities in: volleyball, swimming, soccer, basketball, track and field and badminton. Being involved in NESAC affords our student athletes the chance to travel to other countries for high level competition while experiencing different cultures and intercultural opportunities.

It is an exciting time to be part of AIS athletics and experience the many opportunities that are being provided to our student athletes. On behalf of myself the Athletic Director, AIS administrators, and our amazing team of coaches we would like to welcome you to the program GO LIONS!!!!!!
