Language Acquisition in the PYP

Emergent communicator (Arabic Phase 1)

Overall expectations Arabic Phase 1 Learners show an understanding of the value of speaking and listening to communicate. They recognize that sounds are associated with objects, or with symbolic representations of them. They are using language to name their environment, to get to know each other, to initiate and explore relationships, to question and inquire. ِArabic Phase 1 provides students with an introduction to the Language enabling them to deal with simple, basic, daily life situations. At the end of this level, students should be able to understand and respond to simple phrases, statements and questions and convey basic information in a limited range of everyday situations, using oral and written language appropriate to a limited range of interpersonal and cultural contexts.
