Dear Middle School Community,

Welcome back for another exciting year at AIS and the Middle School in particular!

Welcome and thank you for your connection to the best school in Kuwait! - the American International School of Kuwait. I joined AIS in the High School in August 2013 and my education career has taken me from schools in Canada, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Finland, and Tanzania. Coming to Kuwait has been another truly remarkable international education experience.

Our mission at AIS Kuwait is to provide every child with a school experience that is joyous and meaningful supporting their development as internationally minded students empowered to act both locally and globally in a diverse world. As a fully authorized continuum International Baccalaureate school we engage each child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn through the PYP (Primary Years Programme) and the MYP (Middle Years Programme) in the Middle School.  Through our inquiry-based learning program, children develop deep understandings, skills and dispositions that build academic success and strength of character.

As a parent of two children who have attended international schools in three countries, I know the challenges a parent faces rearing children in an increasingly complex world and how monumentally significant it is that you choose the right school placement for your child. AIS is a solid choice for that ‘right’ school, your child’s ‘home away from home’. Our joyful and supportive setting will be the center of his or her social world and an environment where he or she will learn to function independently. Yet, parent involvement is essential and I implore you to be actively involved in your child’s education with us.

As is consistent with our school, parents can expect the school experience will include high academic standards, cutting-edge practices and a variety of after school activities geared toward school-aged children. We are a community of learners and we celebrate their achievements both social and academic throughout the year. Our academic standards are derived from the IB’s Middle Years Program curricular framework and have been blended with the educational Common Core standards.

I am privileged and honored to be part of your child's learning journey!  Continue to support and join us in partnership at our ‘home away from home’ --- where your child’s academic achievement, increased confidence, resilience and self-esteem will flourish.   Here your child blossom and thrive and, best of all, are happy and have fun learning and growing along the way!

Sincerely,
Carl Love
